Why make your website visitors work? Develop and communicate a clear benefit message that's easy to understand. It sounds simple enough, doesn’t it? But many businesses don’t get it. They don't understand the value of getting the message right; nor the cost of getting it wrong. It's common for people inside an organization to be in love with their company's products. Most of us value what we work hard at day after day. Just describing your product or service is not enough. Customers need more.

You can be too close to what you do. It's then that you need a fresh perspective. I was working with a very large international company to promote a high-ticket product. The company had hard-working sales people all over the world. The marketing department was working flat-out. But they were doing busy work.  

Missing the big picture
This company was missing the big picture. Most people within the company could talk about the bells and whistles of the product. But they didn’t have the language to clearly communicate how this was going to save their customers millions of dollars. We developed a message that was one simple sentence: One sentence worth millions of dollars in sales.
